More About Us
What is Yavneh?
In many ways, Yavneh is a group of friends, brought together by Orthodox practice and bonded through Shabbatot, chagim, and Torah learning. In the morning we wake up for Shacharit and eat breakfast together while seeing who can get the Worldle in the fewest guesses. At night, we stay up late in the library helping each other with problem sets and essays. In Yavneh, you are a part of something bigger than yourself - you are part of a warm community where everyone has a place.
Yavneh is also the only campus organization that provides kiddush, Shabbat lunch, seudah shelishit, and post-Shabbat dinner every week. Additionally, Yavneh runs chagim, social events, Torah learning, chessed opportunities, and more. Over Pesach, for example, Yavneh provided breakfast every day, meals during chag, along with dinner after Pesach. Currently, Yavneh is able to perform these essential functions, but with a growing community, our costs have risen significantly. Moreover, with no outside funding or parent organization, Shabbat lunches are currently small, basic affairs with cholent and challah, and our programming is reserved for the most essential events. With your help, we aim to provide complete, wholesome Shabbat experiences, weekly learning opportunities, and unlock the full potential of our incredible community.
