YOUR YAVNEH

Board

Julian Rapaport

Picture
PRESIDENT
Hi! My name is Julian (King Julian to some) and I am a third-year Public Policy major from San Francisco, California. I’m so excited and honored to have the opportunity to lead this community and lead this incredible board. If you need to find me, you can catch me napping on the Hillel couch, the Hillel upstairs couch, the Hillel beanbag, or sometimes just in a Hillel chair. In my waking hours, I like to bike around campus, complain about the Yankees, and take any and all forms of public transportation. Feel free to contact me here!

Keren Teichner

SHABBAT/SOCIAL CHAIR
Hi, I’m Keren Teichner! I am a first-year student from Manhattan, and I am planning to study neuroscience on the pre-med track. I love running, my cats (Pringle and Wrigley), and reading! As a wise Yavneh member once said, “Keren is always about to go on a run, on a run, or coming back from a run”. I am so excited to be the new Shabbat Chair and impose yogurt and coffee on everyone. Also, despite popular allegations, I do NOT hate cream cheese. Contact me here!

COMMUNICATIONS AND COMMUNITY CHAIR
Hi, I’m Kerenna! I’m a first-year student from Queens, NY, and I am likely studying computer science and cognitive science. I love music, playing board games, being active, and food. If you’re looking for me around campus, there’s a high chance I am on the second floor of the Regenstein Library in the comfy chairs pretending to work. I am so so excited to be Yavneh’s new communications and community chair, and I especially encourage any prospective students or people with questions about our community to reach out! Contact me here :)

Harrison Brooks

GABBAI RISHON
Hi! I’m Harrison Brooks, a first-year from Riverdale, NY. I am majoring in economics (and maybe Public Policy). You can usually find me studying random trivia, calculating Gematriot in the third-floor Hillel Beit Midrash, working on original music, or watching the Yankee game. I am extremely honored to serve as Gabbai and help the Yavneh minyan continue to thrive and grow beyond its wildest dreams. Feel free to reach out to me with any davening-related or general questions. Contact me here!

Adam Burian

VICE PRESIDENT
Hi! My name is Adam Burian. I’m from New Rochelle, New York. I am a first-year majoring in Economics and possibly Computer Science. You can find me on every floor of the Hillel building doing random school work, learning, eating or perhaps watching a New York Rangers game! I love everything about the winter: I love playing ice hockey, skiing, sledding (although not really possible in flat Chicago), drinking hot cocoa, eating ice cream (yes even in winter) and maybe some day learning to curl - why not! But most importantly I am passionate about the Yavneh Soggy Latke broomball team :) If you have any questions, concerns, or want to talk about the Rangers, happy to chat here.

TORAH CHAIR
Hi, I’m Noah, and I am a first-year student from Englewood studying Economics. I am super excited and honored to serve as Yavneh’s Torah chair. I hope to help  strengthen the Torah and fun within this community. I love spending my free time with friends, whether it's playing sports, learning torah or just hanging out. I’m super excited to be a part of a great team on the board! Feel free to contact me here.

Finley Horowitz

GABBAI SHEINI
Hey! I’m Finley and I’m a third year studying biology and computer science. I am so excited to be back on the Yavneh board after a term long hiatus! When I’m not in Hillel, I’m probably in lab or pestering Koby with questions about being pre-med. With any time I have left, I love hiking, running, reading, and spending time with my family. My biggest accomplishment at UChicago so far was being named MVP of the Yavneh Broomball team during my first year. Contact me here!
